Well, where should I start? To be honest, I am overwhelmed by the visit to the International Felt Art Trail in Austria, which I was lucky enough to be able to visit.
The Austrian International Felt Art Trail in Kainbach near Graz is an open-air exhibition of exquisite feltart that will be on permanent display. It is extra special because the objects will be exposed to nature. So, it is constantly changing. Another specialty is that it offers all creative minds the opportunity to design it. On the one hand, there is the felted chain of nearly 300 flags, and on the other, 25 stations with larger objects of international feltmakers under the motto “Filzen beWEGT” – “Felting Moves”.
Anyone can take part in the flag project, whether they are professional felters or beginners, young or old. You can submit a flag in A4 format. The surface design is free. Groups, for example, can also take part and send in several flags. In the run-up to the exhibition, several feltmakers, including the International Feltmakers Association, have organised a joint felting meeting online. This resulted in the considerable number of nearly 300 flags from all over the world. These flags are not labelled, because it should not matter who made them. They are an expression of diversity and tolerance. They express ‘peaceful coexistence’.
