You are currently viewing Symbols of Mobility at Hunt Museum Limerick, Ireland

Symbols of Mobility is a multidisciplinary, ambitious body of work which explores mobility as a change of state or place. Embracing mobility is a lifesaver in changing times. Each installation flies on the wings of the future giving us the support mechanism of wings, inspired by stories as old as time. The exhibition is informed through exploring bird lore in proverbs, fairytales and intangible cultural traditions. These have been studied across several communities as well as humans who embody a particular Symbol of Mobility.

This multi award winning body of work is being launched for the first time as a dedicated exhibition as part of The Hunt Museum exhibition program at the Garden Room Gallery and Process Room. The work is a combination of felt art, film and photography. It has been developed over several years through rich engagements with communities in Ireland and around the world. It has been produced with the generous support of Arts Council, Creative Ireland, Dublin Arts Office, Richmond Barracks, OPW and several private patrons.
