You are currently viewing Felt Swap 2025: Inspired by an Artist

Felt Swap is back! Every year, the International Feltmakers Association (IFA) brings together feltmakers from around the world to connect, create, and exchange handmade felt pieces. It’s a wonderful opportunity to experiment with new ideas, share your work, and receive a unique felted surprise in return.

Theme for 2025: Inspired by an Artist

This year’s theme invites you to draw inspiration from an artist who resonates with you. Whether it’s the bold colours of Frida Kahlo, the expressive textures of Van Gogh, or the abstract forms of Barbara Hepworth, this is your chance to interpret their style, technique, or vision through felt.

How It Works

To make participation easier, we’re introducing an online application form for sign-ups and a submission form to share your completed work. This new system will help our volunteers manage the project more efficiently and ensure a smooth experience for everyone.
We’re also delighted to welcome Lise Poulsen (Region 18) to the team! Lise will be organising participant pairings, collecting data, and processing submissions.

Steps to Join:

1. Sign Up: Fill in the online application form (check your emails from the chair). Posting you work to you Felt Swap partner will be at your own expense. You can choose to swap within your country, within your continent or worldwide
2. Create: Make a mini felt piece no larger than 20cm x 20cm inspired by an artist.
3. Take pictures of your creation and Share: Submit a photo of your creation through our new results form, just like in the IFA Online Exhibition.
4. Swap: Send your felt piece to your assigned swap partner by the deadline (you will be introduced to your swap partner via email Mid May 2025.).

Showcasing Your Work

We love celebrating the creativity of our members! When filling out the submission form, you’ll have the option to decide whether your felt piece can be shared on the IFA’s public Instagram and Facebook pages or if you prefer it to be featured only in the members’ gallery.

Join the Swap!
This is a fantastic opportunity to engage with the global felting community.
