ROOTS – International Travelling Textile Exhibition

ROOTS is an international travelling exhibition bringing together 22 textile artists from the Netherlands and South Africa, connected through the shared theme Roots.
Among the participants are several artists working with wool felt, alongside a broad range of textile disciplines.

From October 2026 onwards, the artworks will travel to three remarkable venues:
Youngblood Gallery (Cape Town), Pretoria Art Museum, and later Museum de Kantfabriek in the Netherlands.

The exhibition explores roots in the broadest sense: personal history, connection to land, ancestry, nature, and identity. Each artist works from their own voice and materials, with felt and textile as an important connecting medium.

To make this international journey possible, we are crowdfunding to cover essential transport and logistics costs. Every contribution, large or small, helps these artworks travel, meet new audiences, and build bridges across continents.

Our art project ROOTS has reached its target amount, which is already fantastic.
Additional support will allow us to carefully develop the project in South Africa, organize a successful opening, and facilitate workshops and public meetings. Donations are still possible.
