Wild Fibres and Wildlife: Form & Texture for Felted Hats & Vessels, 3-day workshop by Dawn Edwards

6th October 2023 - 8th October 2023

AU$520

Be inspired by nature: make fabulous eye-catching vessels and hats!

This is a 3-day workshop to be taught by Dawn Edwards (USA) an internationally renowned fibre artist She specialises in making unique felted hats and vessels inspired by nature: sculptural hats in the forms of flowers or leaves, and bowls and berets that recreate the forest floor, the home of tiny creatures and plant forms. She skillfully felts and sculpts wool fibres using wet felting, nuno felting, resists, fabric manipulation, and embellishing with fabrics, silk and plant fibres, beads and sequins.

With a desire to express their love of nature and bring the beauty of nature into their homes, participants will be able to explore innovative methods of making unique and eye-catching vessels and hats inspired by leaves, flowers, lichens, fungi, seed pods, pine cones, and more. They can expect to make at least three fabulous eye-catching creations that show their love of nature, by designing vessels and hats inspired by the natural world and making them to suit their own style – fashionable, sophisticated, fanciful or fun.

Dawn is based in the USA and her artistic and teaching skills are recognised internationally. This is a rare opportunity for local feltmakers to learn from her in a workshop setting.
