Artwork One

Title:Crocus Drift

Materials and Techniques: Wet felting with merino roving and vintage cotton lace with French knots and beading

Inspiration: My inspiration comes from the crocus and mini daffodils in my garden.

My Connections are: Connecting the past with the present by using vintage lace to create a contemporary designed cuff. Connecting two very different materials vintage cotton lace to fine merino wool by felting rather than stitching. Connecting cold February to the warmth and colours of spring

Artwork Two

Title:Re~Construct

Materials and Techniques: The original piece was created by wet felting using merino roving and viscose fibres, this was deconstructed and then stitched into its current form with embroidery silks on to an Irish linen base.

Inspiration: My inspiration for this came from my love of found images. This piece was originally a large land/seascape that didn’t really work . However when I started to cut it up I found lots of mini landscapes. This lead me on to an idea of how I could recreate a new image. I decided to use hand stitching to reconnect the pieces and french knots to reconnect the colours and create a new whole.
