Autumn Leaves
This is how I see Spring unfolding through nature’s leaves- the slow dying process before new life can begin later winter into spring.
Resist work, using Merino wool tops and silk enhancements. Each resist is individually covered then overlapped onto one another = many overlapping layers. This is a tall object of interest in rust colour, displaying 3 cut-outs cutout areas of interest.
Boots are Made For Walking
This is how I view the fashion influence on outdoor wear, when associated with functional boots and walking shoes.
Merino rovings and silk fibre. Overlapping resists are cut to expose the graduating colours to give interest to the sides of each boot. I’ve also used the cracked earth process on the boots.
Life Vessel
I consider life in our world hides the foundations of who and what life is about. The outer shells are what we see but it is the inner darker or lighter shells that form and dictate the outer layer. It is what gives it strength, character and colour. My vessel aims to pull apart and expose those inner layers and is a metaphor for all life.
I used course Corriedale and Alpaca rovings, (carded to mix colour) and layered with resists to when slashed, expose different hues and layers.
