Monstera

The 3D leaf is Wet Felted 21micron Merino with Viscose. Thin aluminium wire has

been machine zig zag stitched on the reverse to allow the leaf to be “posed” and the

resulting stitching forms the veins of the leaf.

For the background I used black Inktense for the two painted Monstera leaves on a

100% cotton fabric base. This was stretched over a canvas and the 3D leaf attached

with hand stitching along the central vein.

The inspiration for this piece came from my (very!) old Monstera plant which sits in

one corner of the lounge. It’s seen better days and I thought it would be nice to use

this exhibitions theme of Flora & Fauna to create a lasting memento of the plant!
