Time | Online Exhibition 2026
The theme, Time, was suggested by member and Vice-Chair, Heather Potten, and the committee loved it – we hope you will too. Heather’s thoughtful reflection captures the essence of this universal concept:“Time shapes our existence and orders our daily life. It can appear to speed up or slow down. We are often preoccupied with it – being on time, having time, making up for lost time, keeping time. Time, past, present and future, is understood differently across global contexts. Some think of time as flowing in one direction, others as reflecting the cycles of the natural world: the seasons, the tides, day and night, and the changing appearance of the moon. “ Heather reminds us that feltmaking, too, has a deep connection with time: “Becoming a feltmaker takes time: learning the skills, researching traditional methods, understanding the materials, appreciating its potential and exploring new applications. Feltmaking itself is a slow process in a fast world – from the moment an idea is born, through sampling, experimentation and documentation, to the point of creation. This can take many hours, days or weeks to complete.”
