Artwork 1: Panel - Colours of Scotland

My life is a Kaleidoscope! The ever-changing colour palette of the land, the moods of the mountains, the diverse range of changing colours of the plants. Collecting plants, extracting dye and achieving the very colours of the Scottish landscape from which they came. It's magical!

Materials and Techniques

Scottish Plant Dyed Merino on silk including Bog Myrtle, Lungwort, Usnea Ochrolechia, Mint, Alder, Heather. Wet felted and overstitched.

Artwork 2: Shafts of Light

Through my research and experimenting and extracting colour at different times of the year, I achieve the ever-changing colours of the landscape just like a kaleidoscope

Materials and Techniques

Scottish Plant Dyes including Bog Myrtle, Stags Horn lichen, Mint, Ochrolechia Lungwort, Heather, Merino wool various yarns needled and wet felted.

Artwork 3 Title: From the Land to the Cloth

The colours of the heathers, brackens, lochs and the misty mountains not always bright like the Kaleidoscope, but ever-changing with the seasons.

Materials and Techniques

Plant dyes, Merino wool, various yarns, silk needled and wet felted.
