Seraphine

Wool, viscose, silk fibres and skeleton leaves.  Viscose and sari silk fibres were made into silk paper and cut into leaf shapes. These were then felted on to a patchwork of pre felts along with bought skeleton leaves. Stitching was added to give detail and vibrancy to the piece.

I was inspired by the work of the French artist Seraphine Louis, who’s story captured my imagination many years ago when I came across her work. She immediately came to mind when I saw that the theme of the exhibition was Flora and Fauna.
