Mackay introduces her method of making colour stitch embellished ‘felt paintings’ in this book. An introduction explains the materials & equipment for wet & needle felting and stitching. Well illustrated sections cover carding wool tops to blend colours, the essential methods of wet & needle felting, how to embellish with machine and hand stitching. Whilst inspiration, composition, texture & colour are introduced they are overviews rather than technical guides. A gallery of Mackays work is followed by a series of projects focused on Landscapes, Birds, Flowers & Still lives the reader can make. Each project has very clear step by step illustrated instructions. Some inspiring projects and nice colour mixing. Questionable felt making technique. Students have the impression that they need to buy a ribbed roller.
