Title: Rings of Time

Materials and Techniques: Wet felted background overlaid with a variety of wet felted chords of different widths and shades of brown. Rings of yarn were added and then the piece was wet felted. Some detail and texture added with machine embroidery.

Inspiration: I chose to create a piece and inspired by tree rings. I love how they symbolize the passage of time and I instantly thought of trees when thinking about the theme. Tree rings create a beautiful pattern over time that is unique to each tree and show the cyclic nature of life. They show growth through an ongoing journey of rings with each ring telling the story of a specific year—the experiences, successes, and struggles.
