Title: Milkweed Magic

Materials and Techniques: Merino fibre, Handpainted silk, Silk fluff from the seed pod of the milkweed plant, Seed from the plant trapped under the silk fabric. Dried seed pods from the plant.

Inspiration: This piece reflects the seasonality of my garden, which provides a haven for the monarch butterfly. The piece reflects the shape and colour of the butterfly wing, containing within it the colour, silk and seeds of the milkweed plants that sustain the life cycle of the butterflies.
