Business name: Ullswater Felt Art
I needle felt landscapes and animal portraits from a studio overlooking Ullswater in the English Lake District, drawing inspiration from the view and local walks. I work from my own photographs or those provided by clients to create realistic pictures with a three-dimensional texture which helps capture something of the essence of the animal or landscape portrayed using locally sourced fibres. I carry out every stage of processing from raw fleece to framed final piece myself. I am a member of the the Rare Breeds Survival Trust, the Hare Preservation Trust, Cumbria Wildlife Trust and the Penrith and District Red Squirrel Group. I use my work to raise awareness of endangered breeds. Rare breed sheep are needle felted with the right wool to give authenticity.
