I have been needle felting since 2018 after seeing some felted art at a Woolfest exhibition near Cockermouth. I am entirely self-taught. My wool paintings of animals are based on photographs taken whilst out and about in the inspiring Cumbrian countryside, and I particularly love to portray the iconic Herdwick sheep. They all have different characters and I try to capture their personalities in my art. I needle felt wool fibres onto a linen background, taking many hours to produce a realistic result. I have always loved drawing and photographing natural subjects, and this has been invaluable when developing my wool painting
