I specialize in wet felting.
Most of the works presented in the exhibition are created using this technique. I experience the felting process much like watercolor painting: blending shades of color and layering them one upon another, the creative result always brings an element of unexpected surprise.
The visual imagery in my works is often set in contrast with the physical properties of this textile technique—traditionally dense and thick wool is transformed into thin, semi-transparent, almost dust-like compositions that embody the fragility of a romantic worldview.
The expression of the human figure and the portrayal of emotion are explored in close interaction with motifs of nature and natural elements. My self-portraits, rendered in distanced bluish, green, and violet tones, symbolically reflect my personality—energetic and vibrant, yet at times also contemplative and melancholic. These works are deeply subjective, while at the same time containing a range of emotions that are universally recognizable.
Living between two rivers—the Daugava and the Ogre—the flow and rhythm of water and nature have always fascinated and inspired me. Often, the finished works return to nature in unconventional photo sessions, interacting playfully with elements of the environment.
