Mind and Body : up close and personal
25 October @ 9:00 am - 19 November @ 4:00 pm
FreeThe human body can appear alien yet beautiful under the microscope. Magnified surfaces of the lungs, digestive system, and even the neural networks of the brain present as intriguing artistic designs.
These are the inspiration of Mind and Body; a solo textile exhibition by Helen MacRitchie which encourages us to take a closer look at our physiology and appreciate its natural beauty in abstract form. Wall hangings and sculptural works in hand felted wool, yarn and hessian bring texture and colour to physiological subjects rarely seen or considered as art. Extensive embroidery and some unusual mixed media additions bring aspects of those subjects to life.
Each approach gives food for thought. How do you perceive your mind and body?
