These will form the jumping off point for a deeper exploration of felt making techniques and effects\, as well as contrast and composition\, and become the basis for a very personal line of inquiry. This workshop is not about achieving a particular outcome\, but rather about the joy of responding in the moment and learning through play\, trial and “error”. It is intended to give you the freedom and time to explore\, experiment that is so often lacking in our daily life\, and to deepen your understanding of the medium. You will develop the beginnings of a reference library of techniques and ideas to enable future projects\, which can continue to grow at home. A wide range of materials may be incorporated into the samples\, and you will be encouraged to think outside the box. PLEASE NOTE: This is NOT a 3-D sculpting workshop! While some 3-D elements may be incorporated on the surface of the felt\, we will be focussing on the creation of 2-D samples ONLY.\nWhether a felt maker preparing for a specific project or body of work\, or a felt maker who simply would like to explore textures and techniques through some experimental play\, this workshop aims to help you get started on what may well become a life-long addiction. The contents of this workshop are flexible and will be tailored to the students. Students are expected to come with an open mind and experimental attitude.
