Business name: Ushma Sargeant Art
Living on the Ridgeway, where Wiltshire and Oxfordshire meet, I create evocative textile art reflecting the stunning landscapes which surrounds me. The pieces I create capture light, depth and texture better than I feel I could achieve with paint. When ‘painting’ landscape views in fibre, capturing light, shadows, depth and texture is almost done for me by the fibre. Having started using fibre in my work in 2015, I am continuously exploring new techniques to achieve the desired effect. I uses a variety of fibre including wool, silk, camel, alpaca, llama, angora, flax, seaweed, bamboo and acrylic, always looking for the right fibre and texture for the detail. I enjoy the challenge of learning new techniques and the process of moving my work from representational towards abstract.
