I started needlefelting in 2021 and quickly developed a keen interest in developing my skills and making items for friends and family. I have taken the occasional commission although I try not to overstretch myself. I started needlefelting as I felt lost in myself and wanted a little hobby that was easy to pick up and put down while juggling all the hats I wear. Needlefelting seemed to come quite naturally, following YouTube videos, books, kits etc initially before doing my own unique ideas and designs. I am inspired by nature, the natural world, as well as things that are a little quirky. Nature is my place I feel completely free from burden and overwhelm, and where I feel safe. Needlefelting gives me a creative outlet when I can't visit my favourite places or need precious me-time. I find needlefelting an incredible craft, which helps me stay in the present, it's incredibly calming and promotes mindfulness. It's also a very forgiving craft where mistakes can easily be rectified, and thankfully materials need not be overly expensive. My hope going forward is that I continue to grow as an artist, while building my personal confidence and self-esteem. I hope to share my joy and journey of learning to needlefelt one stab at a time with others, who may give it a go too.
