I am accredited by Crafts Council England and some of my projects can be viewed in their directory. My textile work has been exhibited and purchased far and wide over the last thirty years.I studied fashion design and contemporary embroidery at Stafford College of Art before moving to Holmfirth in 1980 where I further developed my embroidery skills, creating freehand textile landscapes which I sold at Holmfirth Artweek.Discovering felt making in 1994. I joined and was an active member of The International Felt Makers Association both learning & teaching.Sustainable natural textiles and the unstructured nature of felt with its endless potential gives freedom of expression for my imagination. It also offers the opportunity to exploit and apply the many techniques of working with textiles that I have gained over time.I am currently experimenting with specific breed wool soft sculpture. I intend to focus and follow this path as far as my 30 years’ experience of traditional wet felt making takes me.Some of my work is displayed at my home and gallery, Somerton Art S P A C E, Holmfirth, West Yorkshire HD9 2LQInstagram: somerton_art_space Facebook: Jill Hayfield-Feltartisan Mobile: 07976 355 664
