Diane Gonthier is a professional fibre artist from Quebec, Canada, since 2003. Her textile studies started in England in 1984, followed by various specialised workshops in the US. In 2006, she obtained “with Distinction” both the OHS Fibre Art Certificate from St-Lawrence College in Ontario, and the OHS Canadian Master Spinner Recognition in 2012 for an in depth research on Felting with yarn (Felted lace). Her creative explorations are renowned to widen the potential of the felt contemporary medium. She also conducts large works of art for and with communities that want to take part and collaborate in a creative process. Just like individual fibres “meet” closely in the felt making process, her statement suggests a warm rekindling of all our relationships. Mrs Gonthier shares regularly her discoveries by teaching in Summer Art schools, Fibre Festivals, Symposium, here and abroad. Her work is exhibited in Quebec, Canada and Europe and is supported by her regional and provincial Art Councils.
