I had to give up work (primary school teacher/head) in 2005 after being diagnosed with CFS/ME and since then I've been very slowly exploring the world of textile art. Recently my focus has turned to natural dyeing and feltmaking, and I'm working to establish a natural dye garden, which I then hope to open for others to use too. I'm most proud of getting blue from woad I've grown myself. My progress is slow, as there are many days when getting dressed is the extent of my achievements, and feltmaking is nothing if not physical. But as long as I can carry on learning and experimenting, I'm happy.
