I am Yara Troynich — a felt artist, puppet maker, and storyteller. Originally from St. Petersburg, I live and work in Helsinki for the last 17 years, where I create soulful animal creatures out of wool. My first career was in journalism and travel writing, and storytelling still shapes everything I do.I discovered felting as a form of self-healing and creative play. What began as a quiet personal practice has become both my passion and my profession. Using traditional wet felting techniques, I sculpt animals, puppets, and miniature worlds that invite a sense of wonder and warmth.I teach online courses in English and Russian, helping people around the world rediscover the joy of handmade art. My creatures are inspired by the nature and the gentle rhythms of everyday life. I believe that even a tiny puppet can carry emotion, spark imagination, and remind us of childhood joy.When I’m not working with wool, I love travel, walking in the woods, cooking something cozy, or capturing quiet moments with my camera.
