Kaleidoscope | Online Exhibition 2020

Title: Unchained 

Unchained was created to commemorate bonds between loved ones across the globe. It comprises a suite of 13 extended links reflecting maternal lineage and kinship within my family and my husband’s. The separate fragments echo and reflect each other forming a unified presence. The centerpiece is titled Maybelline to represent our grand-daughter Mabel. The other pieces stretching outwards are wrapped, coiled, bound and stitched to signify other family members in the Joel-McTernan, Kotai and Lehfeldt clans. Unchained will eventually be articulated into one long flowing wearable lariat. Loops at the end of each slivered link will host felted jump rings to facilitate final assembly.
