DESCRIPTION:During this workshop\, participants experiment with Bergschaf wool batts to create a colourful flat sample using the ‘Slash /Reveal’ technique.\nSuitable for those with some felting experience\, I demonstrate the technique so participants can make along with me\, experimenting with Bergschaf wool batts to create a colourful slashed piece.  This wool felts easily but is much stronger than merino wool so is ideal for slashing and creating sculptural work. The technique can be adapted to add to hats\, vessels etc….\nThere is also a short ½ hour Zoom introductory session to allow students to prepare the right equipment and materials.\nBoth recordings are freely available for students to watch again and take notes.\nAn equipment and materials list is available after receipt of payment.

DESCRIPTION:Back in the UK by popular demand!\nCreate Dramatic wet-felted Portraits using your own Images \nThis workshop has been taught by Chris all over the world\, including at the Felter’s Convergence in Australia\, the IFA AGM and at the recent Wool Week in Norway.\nIt is over 3 years since Chris taught this in the UK\, so we thought we’d offer another opportunity for newer members and those that haven’t done this technique\, as well as those who’d like to repeat the workshop. This particular workshop is for two days\, using monochrome techniques.\nIt is possible to work in a mixture of fleece types using natural colours\, or to use dyed fibres (e.g merino). You will be able to make an A3-sized portrait (or slightly larger) in two days\, based upon an image that you will supply to Chris in advance\, in order for her to do the digital manipulation for the technique. You can use old photos or online images\, it can be friends and family\, animals\, or famous faces. Later on\, the method is applicable to other subject matter\, if you wish to pursue it further.\nThis is a wet-felting technique\, specially-developed by Chris to enable you to make something uniquely personal\, without needing drawing ability. Past students have created family heirlooms\, memorials\, and unique gifts during this workshop.

All to become more aware of how and why we want to use this medium. This workshop is inspired by the idea that we have to allow ourselves to discover new ways of creating with wool. Participants will design and create a “Comfy Sweater\, Vest\, or Tunic” that is tailored to their own measurements.   \nExperience recommendation: Intermediate+/Advanced. For participants without any clothing making experience\, you may choose to make a vest or tunic without sleeves.  \nDuring the workshop:\n1. You will create a one-piece felted sweater\, tunic or vest.\n2. Learn how to take measurements\, make a template\, and calculate shrinkage.\n3.
