SUMMARY:Ostrich - Adult Intermediate Level Needle Felting Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Taking place at The Art Yard gallery in Cradley Heath\, from 10am-5pm this is an adult needle felting workshop with tutor Natalie Harris (Brooks). Natalie is a fine artist using needle felting and the creator of Roly Poly Ponies. \nThis workshop is aimed at adults (18+) that have done a few needle felting projects before and have a good grasp of the basics… attendees should already have a basic grasp of needle felting and be able to make firmly felted shapes (balls\, eggs\, flat shapes) … The focus will be on using a simple armature and fur planting\, so if thats something that you are looking to move onto\, this workshop is for you! \nTypes of wool\, needles and processes are explained and then you will be guided through the process\, step by step whilst Natalie makes along with you. by then end you have produced a lovely ostrich to take home with you… if you dont quite finish\, you may take materials from the workshop to add any finishing touches at home. \nAll materials are provided. Tea and coffee will be available\, but Lunch is not included. DESCRIPTION:There are 3 groups available\, according to different time zones and languages: \nN° 25/03 Matchstick necklace (139 €)\nGr. 1          March 13/14\, 2025 in English 08-11 a.m. CET\nGr. 2         March 15/16\, 2025 in German 10 a.m.- 1 p.m. CET\nGr. 3         March 15/16\, 2025 in English 06-09 p.m. CET \nIn this workshop we want to felt a fancy piece of jewelry in which dense tufts of sticks with colored tips\nare connected to form a necklace. I have named it the matchstick necklace.\nWhen laying out the wool\, we will pay particular attention to the composition of materials and fibre\ndirection\, in order to create a stable felt and firmly enclose the colored section at the lower edge.\nThis allows us to cut many narrow strips later\, with their upper end securely anchored in a collar.\nEverything is felted again to seal the cuts and give the matchsticks an organic and perfect finish.\nIf you don’t like it quite so opulent or would like to practise on a simpler model first\,\nyou may want to start with fewer tiers. Of course\, you can choose your favourite colors. \nN° 25/03 Streichholz Collier (139 €)\nGr. 2         März 15/16\, 2025 in Deutsch 10 – 13 h \nIn diesem Kurs wollen wir einen originellen Halsschmuck filzen\, in dem dichte Büschel von Stäbchen\nmit farbigen Kuppen zu einem Collier verbunden werden. Ich habe es Streichholz Collier getauft.\nBeim Auslegen werden wir besonders auf Materialzusammensetzung und Faserrichtung achten\,\ndamit ein stabiler Filz entsteht\, bei dem auch der farbige Abschnitt am unteren Rand gut haltbar\neingeschlossen ist.\nDas erlaubt uns später viele schmale Streifen zu schneiden\, deren oberes Ende fest in einem\nHalsband verankert ist. Alles wird nochmals nachgefilzt \, um die Schnitte zu versiegeln und die\nHölzchen schön auszuformen.\nWer es nicht ganz so opulent mag oder zunächst an einem einfacheren Modell üben möchte\,\nkann auch mit weniger Ebenen beginnen. Crafted with Merino and Irish wool\, artworks feature wet and needle felting\, blending heritage with contemporary artistry. \nThe exhibition runs from March 5–30\, 2025 (closed Mondays & Tuesdays). DESCRIPTION:If you’re in the north of our region why not join us for a Play Day at Belchford Village Hall LN9 6LJ. Tea and coffee are provided\, bring a packed lunch and your felting gear and enjoy a relaxing day in the Lincolnshire Wolds. We are a self help group and usually work on our own projects but sometimes we will pick a theme and anyone who’s interested can join in. This group is open to non İFA members too.
