DESCRIPTION:During this workshop\, participants experiment with Bergschaf wool batts to create a colourful flat sample using the ‘Slash /Reveal’ technique.\nSuitable for those with some felting experience\, I demonstrate the technique so participants can make along with me\, experimenting with Bergschaf wool batts to create a colourful slashed piece.  This wool felts easily but is much stronger than merino wool so is ideal for slashing and creating sculptural work. The technique can be adapted to add to hats\, vessels etc….\nThere is also a short ½ hour Zoom introductory session to allow students to prepare the right equipment and materials.\nBoth recordings are freely available for students to watch again and take notes.\nAn equipment and materials list is available after receipt of payment.

DESCRIPTION:The aim of the workshop is to create a nuno sampler incorporating at least 5 types of fabric with merino wool. Our objective will be to work with a variety of fabrics to experience\, observe and record\n*The handle of each fabric\n*The fabric structure\n*How each fabric interacts with the wool fibres as its laid out and goes through the stages of bonding with the fibres (pre-felt and fulled)\n*Share tips & good practice when making nuno felt. \nThe sampler you make can be used for future reference or made into a notebook cover or other item after the workshop. \nNotes & fabric will be mailed out to UK participants who book before 14th April. DESCRIPTION:Participants will explore 3D techniques for creating unique small scale pendants with hanging bails using 2D template resists. \nLearn to encase durable objects to add color\, texture\, material complexity and conceptual relevancy in your work. \nBy simply wrapping fiber around an object\, one doesn’t provide ample space for the fibers to felt and therefore one must employ a resist larger than the object\, which involved just a little calculation! Then\, sculpt hollow form using surface resists to create dimensional planes of felt and embed partial felt within the surface to develop convex protrusions through differential shrinkage.
