SUMMARY:FACES OF EXTINCTION with GLADYS PAULUS 9-day workshop from March 8 to 16\, 2026
DESCRIPTION:This master class focuses on the creaon of a detailed animal mask which will contribute to on-line exhibition Faces of Extinction. This project aims to help raise awareness of the huge challenges to wildlife across the world\, and of imminent natural network collapse.\nToday wildlife accounts for only 3 percent of earth’s land animals; human beings\, our livestock\, and our pets take up the remaining 97 percent of the biomass. This is due both to the explosion of industrial agriculture and to a hollowing out of wildlife itself\, which has decreased in abundance by as much as 50 percent since 1970. This cull is from both direct hunting and global-scale habitat destrucon: almost half of the earth’s land has been converted to farmland (source: PeterBrannen\, The Ends of the World ).\nFaces of Extinction is an international community art project & on-line exhibition that aims to draw attention to the impact of human activity on ecosystems and habitats\, and the increased rate of species loss that is one of the results. Faces of Extinction occupies a dedicated web page\, Instagram site and Facebook page\, and all images share a disnct set of guidelines to encourage visual unity.\nAll animals chosen have to be picked from the IUCN Red List for Threatened Species ( hps://www.iucnredlist.org/ ) and all student parcipants will be asked to do some research on their chosen animal\, as well as prepare a sign containing some basic wrien facts (more informaon on this is provided in the Student Materials List).

SUMMARY:Wet Felted Pendant with Karen Lane
DESCRIPTION:In this workshop we will be creating a statement pendant\, inspired by the work of Aniko Boros\, using a combination of Superfine Merino and Merino prefelt. Karen will talk you through the different techniques we will be using\, showing several samples of different designs. Some will utilise resists and be better suited to experienced feltmakers while others will be suitable for any ability. All designs incorporate an adjustable cord and a “dangle” and\, for those who would like to\, can be further embellished using beads or stitch.\nWe have Merino prefelt in light grey and mustard if you would like to purchase some on the day\, otherwise bring your choice of prefelt colour with you. A quarter of a metre will be more than enough and you will need a small amount of Superfine fibre to use with it.\nTea and coffee provided but please bring a packed lunch as there isn’t a shop in the village.\nContact Pat or Karen if you need any more details.

SUMMARY:TUBULAR! A Masterclass in Felt Sculpture with Tubes by Judit Pócs
DESCRIPTION:Step into the playful\, sculptural world of tubular felt forms! In this four-day masterclass\, you will design and create your own unique felt sculpture enriched with boldly textured tubes. The shared theme is “playing with tubes\,” but every participant will develop a personal form and artistic direction. \nWe begin with a small sample piece\, incorporating one or two tubes to get familiar with the techniques. Throughout the workshop\, you’ll work with sponge rollers used for painting and soft foam tubes from plumbing insulation—our base forms for building the felt layer. These felt-covered tubes will then be integrated into your sculpture and firmly felted onto the surface. \nTo enrich the texture\, you may work with Lyocell or silk fibers\, yarns\, or even shimmering sequin-fabric mosaics to create metallic effects. Contrasting textures bring exciting visual rhythm to the surface. Tubes may remain open and hollow\, or—through a more complex process—the longer ones can be attached at both ends to different surfaces. \nTube-decorated sculptures can evoke a futuristic\, slightly industrial atmosphere\, or lean toward a more organic\, natural feel depending on how you design the base shape. \nJoin us for four days of experimentation\, structure\, and sculptural exploration. \nBe bold\, be playful\, be TUBULAR!

SUMMARY:‘Ancient Fibre – New Journey’ Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:A solo exhibition by textile artist Emma Jackson who has developed a new body of work that celebrates the enduring qualities wool and her creative practice. \n“Wool has been central to Emma’s practice. Recently she has worked directly with whole fleeces sourced from sheep farmers. In response\, she has developed a new body of work that celebrates the enduring qualities of this ancient fibre and highlights its natural beauty.” \nExhibition Opening / Private View: Thursday 30th April 2026 7pm – 9pm\nArtist Talk: Wednesday 6th May 2026 6:30pm\nMore information and Artist Talk bookings at : www.nook-gallery.co.uk/pages/exhibitions\nExhibition Dates: 30th April – 10th May 2026\nLocation: nook gallery\, 25c Institute Road\, Kings Heath\, Birmingham\, B14 7EG

SUMMARY:Gefilzte Wandobjekte – Natur als Inspiration und Lehrmeisterin (Kurs mit Dagmar Binder)
DESCRIPTION:bei Wollknoll\, Oberrot\, Germany\n4.-8.

SUMMARY:Wet Felted Bag/Bowl on a Ball Workshop with Needlessly Felted at Sam Dales Holmes Chapel
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a creative\, hands-on workshop exploring the sculptural side of wet felting with Vicky Pulman of Needlessly Felted. \nUsing the resist method and working over a ball\, you’ll learn how to build up layers of fibre\, roll\, shape\, and coax them into a seamless felted bag – strong\, practical\, and completely unique. We’ll begin with a base of Perandale wool batts\, chosen for their softness\, bounce\, and ability to felt firmly into shape. \nFrom there\, you’ll explore a rich palette of fibres and textures to bring your design to life: Artisan and hand-dyed yarns for bold lines and expressive marks Bouclé yarns and neps for loops\, bumps\, and tactile detail Silks for lustrous highlights and movement Wool locks for organic textures and sculptural depth Your bag becomes more than functional – it’s a canvas of fibre\, layered and fused together through the rhythm of rolling\, water\, and soap. \nYou’ll discover how to handle different fibres\, how to build strength into your form\, and how to finish your bag so it’s both durable and beautiful. All materials and expert guidance are included. No felting experience needed – just curiosity and the joy of making.

SUMMARY:Lisa Klakulak’s 5-day Constructed Felt Vessel Workshop: Edge Welding Textured Panels & Cylinders
DESCRIPTION:This is a multi-tiered hollow form vessel workshop using slab built ceramic form as inspiration. We will be making larger cylindrical forms by joining up panels made from partial felt using two different types of surface texture: resisted plane and raising hollow formed protrusions. We will sculpt the shoulder\, neck and mouth of the form by making strategic cuts to the cylinders’ rim\, embedding additional partial felt shapes and exploiting differential shrinkage and directional fulling. Smaller initial studies will provide the opportunity to develop skills for perimetral fulling to create these concave and convex manipulations of surface and form.
