How to blend colours\, make textures and features to create the unique character of your dog or cat. Complete by adding glass eyes and a nose. \nBring along a photo of your pet if you would like to make a little replica that needs no feeding or walking! Or create your own fantasy or cartoon style dog or cat. \nPrivate bespoke workshops are available for families and friends in my studio. From two people upwards. DESCRIPTION:An opportunity to create a unique piece of home decor to complement your home and learn two new skills – Feltmaking and Lampshade making! \nDay One: Using merino or native breed wools with additional yarns and fibres such as silk\, linen and soya  – you will design and make a piece of felt fabric. You will learn how to lay the wool and other fibres and apply wet felting techniques to bond the fibres together. You can choose neutral tones\, bright jewel colours\, abstract patterns or more pictoral elements to create your unique design. At the end of this first half day session you will have a piece of flat fabric which you will go on to make your bespoke lampshade with. \nDay Two: Using the felt fabric prepared in the first session you will make your lampshade. Learning how to cut your felt fabric to size\, adhere a fire resistant backing and shade rings\, to construct your lampshade. This session will give you a basic understanding of how to make a drum lampshade\, equipped with these new skills\, you can apply this knowledge to future projects with confidence. \nThis workshop takes place over two half day sessions.\nSaturday 22nd and Saturday 29th October 2022 between 10 am – 2pm \nVenue: Silversoles Studio\, Kings Heath\, Birmingham UK\nWorkshop suitable for beginners and more experienced felt makers alike.

DESCRIPTION:Back in the UK by popular demand!\nCreate Dramatic wet-felted Portraits using your own Images \nThis workshop has been taught by Chris all over the world\, including at the Felter’s Convergence in Australia\, the IFA AGM and at the recent Wool Week in Norway.\nIt is over 3 years since Chris taught this in the UK\, so we thought we’d offer another opportunity for newer members and those that haven’t done this technique\, as well as those who’d like to repeat the workshop. This particular workshop is for two days\, using monochrome techniques.\nIt is possible to work in a mixture of fleece types using natural colours\, or to use dyed fibres (e.g merino). You will be able to make an A3-sized portrait (or slightly larger) in two days\, based upon an image that you will supply to Chris in advance\, in order for her to do the digital manipulation for the technique. You can use old photos or online images\, it can be friends and family\, animals\, or famous faces. Later on\, the method is applicable to other subject matter\, if you wish to pursue it further.\nThis is a wet-felting technique\, specially-developed by Chris to enable you to make something uniquely personal\, without needing drawing ability. Past students have created family heirlooms\, memorials\, and unique gifts during this workshop.
