Combining wool\, cotton or silk you will be shown how to use resists and nuno felting techniques to construct a seamless felted wool bag with integrated resist patterning within the surface.  \nDuring the workshop you will learn how to –\n*Design and make your bag\n*Made a resist pattern from a template to form your seamless bag\n*Create surface pattern and texture by using resist shapes and fabrics\n*Make seamless 3d felt\n*Incorporate fabric texture using Nuno technique \nThis is a great day to expand your felt making skills – suitable for those with felt making experience and for beginners with a good basic felting knowledge\, as groups are kept small. DESCRIPTION:An opportunity to create a unique piece of home decor to complement your home and learn two new skills – Feltmaking and Lampshade making! \nDay One: Using merino or native breed wools with additional yarns and fibres such as silk\, linen and soya  – you will design and make a piece of felt fabric. You will learn how to lay the wool and other fibres and apply wet felting techniques to bond the fibres together. You can choose neutral tones\, bright jewel colours\, abstract patterns or more pictoral elements to create your unique design. At the end of this first half day session you will have a piece of flat fabric which you will go on to make your bespoke lampshade with. \nDay Two: Using the felt fabric prepared in the first session you will make your lampshade. Learning how to cut your felt fabric to size\, adhere a fire resistant backing and shade rings\, to construct your lampshade. DESCRIPTION:Back in the UK by popular demand!\nCreate Dramatic wet-felted Portraits using your own Images \nThis workshop has been taught by Chris all over the world\, including at the Felter’s Convergence in Australia\, the IFA AGM and at the recent Wool Week in Norway.\nIt is over 3 years since Chris taught this in the UK\, so we thought we’d offer another opportunity for newer members and those that haven’t done this technique\, as well as those who’d like to repeat the workshop. This particular workshop is for two days\, using monochrome techniques.\nIt is possible to work in a mixture of fleece types using natural colours\, or to use dyed fibres (e.g merino). You will be able to make an A3-sized portrait (or slightly larger) in two days\, based upon an image that you will supply to Chris in advance\, in order for her to do the digital manipulation for the technique. You can use old photos or online images\, it can be friends and family\, animals\, or famous faces. Later on\, the method is applicable to other subject matter\, if you wish to pursue it further.\nThis is a wet-felting technique\, specially-developed by Chris to enable you to make something uniquely personal\, without needing drawing ability. Past students have created family heirlooms\, memorials\, and unique gifts during this workshop.

DESCRIPTION:This  workshop is a discovery journey filled with many experiences of modeling different wools and other fibers. We will explore different  techniques for sculptural form ideas\, with themes like: folding and unfolding\, building relief\, clamping and binding. All to become more aware of how and why we want to use this medium. This workshop is inspired by the idea that we have to allow ourselves to discover new ways of creating with wool. Let the wool make you feel things\, and then decide if it is any good.  We will play with the processes of shortening\, thickening\, tightening\, shrinking and other transformations of felted surfaces.\nFocus will be on how color changes in the felting process and how different layouts and felting methods change forms and shapes.\nSome felting experience required .
