Lisa Klakulak’s workshop: Wool & Wood Collaboration with Graeme Priddle

In this 5-day workshop at a destination craft school pop-up, explore mixing media of wood and wool with fiber artist Lisa Klakulak and wood turner and texturer extraoridinaire, Graeme Priddle. Both of these fibers (cellulose and protein) have a linear microscopic structure (grain and filament) that informs the processes of textural manipulation. Both materials are supple, yet surface relief will be developed differently for each. Carve and burn pre-fabricated and found wood objects, while raising and compressing hand made wool felt surfaces with shrinkage and stitching. Color wood with milk and acrylic paints, pens and pencils, and use pre-dyed wool to felt through a variety of other pre-made fabrics varying in color, structure and surface design, plus integrate yarns and free-motion embroidery.
