FELTING, FOOD AND WINE EXPERIENCE IN THE NAPA VALLEY
3 June - 6 June
This extensive small group workshop with Beth includes three nights of accommodations on property in the beautiful Carneros region of the Napa Valley. Over the course of the weekend, you will enjoy a welcome wine tasting reception, three breakfasts, three lunches, and a dinner prepared by a local Napa Valley chef, in addition to Napa Valley vineyard views during your three-day workshop.
You will use a resist to create a one of kind seamless nuno felted vest that can be worn inside out and upside down, hence the 4-Way Vest. You will learn how to make a pattern/resist from one of your own existing garments and to easily size it up to account for shrinkage using Beth’s “Easy Peasy Shrinkage Calculation” sheet. Beth’s method for pattern making doesn’t involve taking body measurements or using complicated math – you won’t even need to use a calculator. You will learn how to sandwich wool roving between layers of sheer silk fabric and embellish the vest as suits your taste and style. Beth will teach you how to create seamless edges, professionally finish the open areas like the armholes and hemline, and how to shape and size your vest to fit properly and flatteringly. You will also learn about various closures for your vest. Once you finish your vest, Beth will style you and take photos of you modeling your beautiful unique vest in a multitude of ways.
Skill level: This is an intermediate felting workshop. Students should be familiar with how to lay out wool roving for wet felting. This workshop does require some stamina.
