Artwork One

Title: Pain and Joy

Materials and Techniques: Viscose, Margilan Silk, Merino wool 19 mic. Nuno Felt

Inspiration: This work emerged during a difficult time, as the third anniversary of the war in Ukraine approached. Overwhelmed by the news, I struggled to create. I reached for dark fibres, expressing deep pain for Ukraine. Then, red appeared—symbolising resistance to the occupiers. Yet, where there is love and hope, joy endures. This reversible cape embodies both: one side reflects pain, the other joy.

Title: In a safety net of National Health Service (NHS)

Materials and Techniques: Merino Wool 19 mic. Wet Felting

Inspiration: This sculpture, part of my solo exhibition, symbolises my experience with the NHS during my leukemia treatment. It depicts patients surrounded by a supportive net of healthcare staff, guiding them through treatment and recovery. The sculpture is my heartfelt thank you to all medical staff for their dedication and care.
