Artwork Title: “Verna”

Materials and Techniques: This hat was created using the  open resist technique and finished on a vintage wooden hat block . My materials were 18micron merino wool roving in Lichen . I also added hand dyed Margilan rarefied silk,  mohair boucle yarn and viscose fibers.

My aim was to create a light spring hat, I wanted to capture the fresh colors of spring and the shine and glow of early spring sunshine. I was delighted with the way the margilan silk helped me to achieve that effect. I like to name my pieces, I chose “Verna” for this hat taken from the term Vernal the Latin for spring.
