Title
In to the Earth

My installation ‘In to the Earth’ is about the cycle of life, through the trees, and how the family unit are forever intrinsically linked. They are bound together and re-connected throughout the years, eventually returning and merging in to the earth. The artist Eva Hesse said ‘Life doesn’t last. Art doesn’t last.’ I feel I connect with Eva Hesse via my use of ephemeral materials. The felt work I make, although very strong and solid, has a finite life, albeit taking many more years to rot and decay back in to the ground.

This installation was made using local British fleeces and wet felted directly using the raw fibres to make a long continuous cord to ReConnect and embrace life.
