Drifting Orbs #1

The orange circles of fabric and paper drift in isolation, as we have been. Floating black and white irregular forms tenuously bridge the gaps between them, just as we rely now on amorphous digital clouds to bridge the distances between us.

Materials and Techniques
Merino wool, mulberry papers, silk fabric, cotton embroidery thread, sumi ink; wet felting, ink spatter, hand stitching

Drifting Orbs #2

We are individually and separately orbiting around a maelstrom, trying to resist being pulled in. The meandering stitched path represents our tentative efforts to re-establish our connections with one another while remaining safely distant.

The silk circles represent us as individuals, unrooted and floating in isolation. Our reconnections with one another have mostly involved lines and networks of communication, reflected in the black lines and circles connecting and filling the spaces between.
