Artwork One

Title: After the Fire (morchella)

Materials and Techniques: Wool, wooden dowel : Needle felting and wet felting

Inspiration: This piece is a tribute to silver linings. After a devastating fire which destroyed 151 homes in my community I was humbled and amazed to see the connections formed through loss, pain, and fear. Just as some mushrooms only fruit after a fire, so too are relationships created and sustained.

Artwork Two

Title: Lactarius Indigo

Materials and Techniques: Wool, silk fabric, Kozo paper, dowel. Base: glass : Wet felting, Nuno felting, paper felting, needle felting

Inspiration: Fungi are all about connections - they are connected to everything, and, in fact, the biggest living organism on Earth! This sculpture is part of an expanding collection of mushrooms that are technically challenging and visually enchanting. Inspired by my connection to the land, these pieces hopefully encourage reverence for nature.
