Honoring Marie

Wet-felted Merino, with nuno-felted, hand-dyed silk inlay.

For me, flora in art evokes impressionism. This piece honors little-remembered, female, impressionist painter and ceramist, Marie Bracquemond, who exhibited decorative vases in the 4th Impressionist Exhibition (1879). Sadly, though admired by the leading impressionist artists of her time, she was disparaged by her (artist) husband and stopped creating.
