Artwork 1: Giant Hogweed Deconstructed
For this kaleidoscopic image, I deconstructed elements of the Giant Hogweed; stem, seed, leaves, and flowers. The Giant Hogweed is an invasive exotic plant. Its juice causes burns (the orange colour around the stems). Its giant leaves create a dark shadow and leave no space or light for other plants to grow (the brown around the leaves). Yet it is a majestic and beautiful plant. So there are many and changing perspectives to its image, shifting from horrible to beautiful. Changing like the image of the kaleidoscope.  A plant we would like to banish from our environment, but also a marvel of nature.
