Artwork One

Title: War Horse (Joey’s home)

Materials and Techniques: Felt, bouclé yarn, wool slub yarn, chiffon fabric, Jute string and faux barbed wire. Knitting, needlefelting, applique , stitch

Inspiration: Michael Monpurgo’s book , War horse , inspired this piece. This moving story connects the reader/viewer to the past. I wanted to show that when Joey returned home from the first world war he was till haunted by the barbed wire of the trenches in the first world war.

Title: Happy Potatoes

Materials and Techniques: Wool fibres, wool slub yarn, upcycled boucle cardigan, upcycled cotton dress for sky. needle felting, applique, embroidery, machine stitching

Inspiration: Connections in this piece are with the people of Ireland who survived the Potato Famine and to the scientist Dr. Salaman who helped to eradicate Blight. Resulting in Happy Potatoes.
