In April this year, I travelled to Norway at the invitation of the Norske Filtmakere, the Norwegian association of Feltmakers. They asked me to represent the IFA at the opening of their exhibition in Fredrikstad.

The exhibition had the same theme, “Building Bridges”, as the international network meeting organised by the IFA in 2019 in Mouzon, France.

The work of 17 members of the Norwegian Feltmakers Association featured in the exhibition. There was a variety of all kinds of items that can be created in felt, including clothes, wall-hangings, 3D objects. Members also felted cords for a large collaborative work. These cords were used to weave a carpet for auction and will be sold to the highest bidder. The money raised will go to the Red Cross to help the victims of the war in Ukraine.

I am grateful to have been able to represent the IFA at this event and to speak with many Norwegian feltmakers. Later this month, another network meeting (online) is scheduled. The IFA and all associations present hope to continue working together, to keep feltmaking alive all over the world.
