In 2019, a few friends and I  submitted a crazy idea to Chrissie Menzies, Director of Wonderwool Wales, to exhibit Alice in Wonderwool. We were fortunate enough to have the idea accepted. The exhibit illustrates Alice entering Wonderwool-land and joining her friends at the Mad Hatter’s tea party. She is then banished by the evil queen and her wild flamingos and hedgehogs. The items in the exhibit are predominately wet and needle felted with a few pieces knitted and crocheted by ourselves. It is just over 7m in length and as tall as an 8-year-old child. This makes it unique and the first of its kind in size (though I may be corrected!).

Originally, the exhibit was meant for 2019, but was sadly delayed due to Covid. There were nine of us when we started to plan, but, due to health and personal reasons, just three of us have worked on it for the last 2 1/2 years. We have put together an 18-month calendar of photos depicting the characters. We hope to raise money to donate to the organised charities through Wonderwool.

We would love it if you could pop in and say hi to us: Janna Turner, Alex Johnstone and Kathy Smart

See you there from 23-24 April 2022
