You can fill in your profile information by clicking on your picture or name.
This will only be visible members so is fairly safe.
More public listing of members details can be made by putting a post in the contact other feltmakers section, this can be reached from the forum homepage.
If we want a list, lets make one |

As stated in an earlier Post, I readily agree to having a member's list. It can contain the e mail address and location of the studio. Part of being a member is to learn about other felters and commnicate with them. I would be delighted to have fellow members visit me and my studio if they are ever in Colorado.
If there are members who do not want the information published, they can opt out. But, I bet many of the members will want to be a part of it.

A list of members names, country of origin and the region would be useful so that interested people can then search out further info about the felter using other means. This would not need email addresses or other contact details to be provided.
Felters who are proactive often have their own websites, workshops etc.

The issue of a membership list accessible to all members has been raised repeatedly and has been discussed by the committee. Regional Coordinators were asked to canvas their members to gauge opinion as to whether members details should be circulated. Of those who responded, several RCs said that their members were happy for their details to be shared, but a significant proportion was unhappy at the idea. A major concern was the harvesting of email addresses.
The idea of a 'tick box' was discussed and is certainly being considered.
Your assertion that certain committee members do have access to members details is correct, but access is limited to what is necessary for administrative purposes.
As you rightly point out, we are not a 'secret society' and the sharing of information within the IFA is possible in several ways. Anyone wishing to share their details is welcome to post their request here on the forum, members have the option to post free classified ads on the website and members are able to contact Regional Coordinators from any region to request that their details be passed to the members of that region.

This is ridiculous it is 2011 and we are not a secret society let us have a members list out there in the public domain.
After all the committee have access to private email addresses etc to contact you when they wish so why not the ability to contact other members.
On the joining form you should have a tick box to mark if you wish to be excluded from it.The IFA is the members not the committee running it at any one time and it is maybe something all members should now be asked about not just at AGM. |

Hi Janet,
I like this idea. Perhaps we could have a section on the edit profiles section that allows people to opt in, as I'm sure people would like to choose if they want their profiles public. Could have contact detals/ blog / web adresses.
Good opportunity to network and learn/ support each other.

What I miss is a members list so when I am in different parts of the world I can contact like minded people. This used to be available and was included in each issue of our feltmaking magazine. This would be available to members only, not the general public.
I wonder what other members think ?
