30 July - 3 August - Felting Symposium on Gotland, Sweden - KreaTov 2008
KreaTov 2008

KreaTov 2008 is a felting symposium for you who want to learn more about felting of today, to get new inspiration and develop your own skills. You will enjoy an active vacation in the beautiful settings of Gotland and get lots of wonderful memories to bring back home.KreaTov 2008 will give you the opportunity to meet with enthusiastic felters that are well known for their works, and who want to share their knowledge as your teachers.KreaTov 2008 will develop your skills, weather you are a teacher, an artist or just devoted to felting. You will get the opportunity to see felt from Gotland, Estonia and other cultures. And you will of course meet many like-minded people who love felting and wool.

Field trips and lectures

In the evenings the felting stars will enter the scene and entertain us with their felting experiences. We will learn about their relation to wool and felt, and get to know more about creative processes, mistakes and the joy of felting. One afternoon we make a field trip to a sheepfarm and/or a spinning factory. The trip will give us further knowledge about the process from sheep to yarn and felt. The exhibitons you will find, will of course show the best of wool and felted products from Gotland.

Felting on Gotland

On the island of Gotland felting is a technique of today. The supply of wool is immense and there are more sheep than people on the island. This richness gives us great opportunities when refining the wool to usable products, for large scale production or as unique objects. The major part of things made from wool on Gotland are crafted by hand by skilled craftsmen and women - many of them known far outside the island. We all wish to share that common experience with you.

More about the Felting Symposium

The fee for the symposium will be between SEK 4000 and 5000, depending on lodging. Lodging and meals are included, as well as the program for the symposium. Cost for material will be added. KreaTov 2008 is carried out through Gotlands läns Hemslöjdsförening, Birgitta Nygren, Visby. Tel +46 (0)498 217160.
